New app will make it easier to enter Thailand

Soon, it will be even easier for all travellers to enter Thailand. The country’s immigration authorities are  launching a pilot version of a new immigration app that allows visitors to complete arrival registration in just minutes.

All travellers heading to Thailand will soon have a faster and more convenient way to complete their arrival registration, thanks to a new mobile application launched by Thailand’s Immigration Bureau.

The Thailand Immigration Management (THIM) app is now available in a pilot phase ahead of its official launch in August 2026. Designed to streamline the entry process for international visitors, the app allows travellers to scan their passport, complete arrival information and submit required details directly from their smartphone.

Using THIM, visitors can upload their passport information simply by taking a photo, while the system automatically reads and stores the data. Travellers can then enter accommodation details, travel information and the purpose of their visit, reducing the time needed to complete arrival formalities.

According to Thailand’s Immigration Bureau, the process takes less than three minutes for individual travellers. The app also offers group registration for up to 10 people, making it particularly useful for families and tour groups travelling together.

During the pilot phase, travellers are still required to complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), which remains mandatory for all foreign visitors. THIM serves as an alternative way to access and complete the same registration process and is not an additional entry requirement.

Available on both iOS and Android devices, the app currently supports a series of languages, including English, with additional languages expected to be introduced in future updates.

The launch forms part of Thailand’s broader efforts to modernize its immigration services and improve the visitor experience. In the future, THIM is expected to evolve into a comprehensive digital platform for foreign visitors, offering services such as online document submissions, appointment booking with immigration officers and digital processing of selected applications. The full rollout of THIM is expected in August 2026.
